The law of the process- Posted on Monday, March 02, 2009
Every believer has a calling and a plan for his life; also, that we were created with divine purpose. However, knowing that we have a calling is not enough. We must also understand there is a period of time that God uses to prepare us. This “time” is the process that every man and woman of God must endure; there is no escaping it. Sometimes, people want to jump-start their ministries by trying to avoid the process, but this never works out; avoiding the process causes failure. There is a period of time in which the process takes place. It begins the moment we are called, and it comes to its peak the moment we are sent. Many people have a genuine calling from God; but remember, the time they receive the calling is not the time they are to be sent—receiving the call and being sent are two different things. What, then, is the process that every man and woman must endure when God calls them into His service? There is a law called: “The law of the process”. When God has a plan and purpose for an individual, the law of the process must be observed before God’s plan can be completed. If someone tries to skip the process, God sends him back to the beginning. How does the process begin?
1. God calls you
As stated earlier, only God can appoint you or give you your calling not the organization or another man. Many people assign themselves a calling and begin to work in a specific ministerial office, but since they appointed themselves, they fail. Let us take a closer look at Scripture.
“4And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.” Hebrews 5.4
God calls His purpose in our lives a privilege and an honor—He is the only One who can grant this privilege. The only requirement needed to participate in His calling is for us to say, “Yes Sir, here I am.” When we are called by God to do his will, it is only the beginning of the process. After we receive His calling, it could take years before we are commissioned to begin practicing it. Many people make the mistake of leaving their present positions to begin their ministry the moment they receive their calling and that is why they fail.
How does God call the believer into the ministry to fulfill his purpose and calling?
The Bible teaches we are called the moment we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior of our lives—regardless of our blood line, talents, gender, or marital status. With the calling comes the ability given by the Holy Spirit to complete it. Let us ask the question one more time, “How does God call us?” There are different ways that God calls us, and these can be found in the New and Old Testament. God calls us through:
· The inner witness—a strong feeling in our hearts.
· A vision—as it happened to Paul.
· Dreams—God can calls through dreams.
· God can call us through a personal prophesy given by one or more prophets.
· Scripture.
· A supernatural visitation from God.
· The audible voice of the Holy Spirit—as it happened with Samuel.
